As you are a solid member of society I guess you were not yourself taking and additives when you wrote this intoxicated tale...in which case it’s as fine a piece of imaginative writing as I’ve read on Substack so far.

You may blame my oldest brother who gifted me a stack of MAD magazines when I was around seven years old. I have been ruined ever since. Plus, it can't always be about the boring serious stuff, right? That's why I enjoy reading your End-of-the-Line chapters. You strike a good balance between the serious and humorous and wrap it in excellent observations.

Ha! MAD magazine - I never got my head round that - the big grinning guy just seemed weird to me - a little embarrassing to admit such straightness. But I hang my head also to remember telling my younger brother I couldn't make sense of Swalbr by Cream. Me - who had been the first boy in Perthshire to discovery Bob Dylan (care of his appearance in BBC television play Madhouse on Castle Street 1963). Your generous comments are a source of pleasure and some confusion - the Ugly Duckling syndrome...
