I recall seeing her quote about why she wrote on your substack. It is always good to find an O'Connor fan. The movie is excellent. Hawke nicely blends her short stories and her life story together in a play-like result with actors playing multiple roles. However, the viewer needs at least some knowledge of her short stories to fully benefit. I may agree with you about the absurdity being there if one can see it. I fear Greenville's tendency to sanitize and glitter-ize everything may scare it off. Let me know what you think about the film.
